Lisa Bailey

North Carolina State Manager

LBailey@ClassicalConversations.com

Lisa Bailey, an accomplished speaker and educational trainer, has been a home-schooling mother for the last ten years.  Eager to impart her passion for classical education, Lisa has spoken to hundreds of parents, sharing with them the fundamentals of providing a Christian, classical education in the home environment.  “I get a real thrill when parents begin to believe they can successfully school their children at home, providing both spiritual and academic excellence,” she states.
A graduate of Wake Forest University, Lisa has a political science degree that she once planned to parley into a career in law.  Although God changed her path, the skills of the trivium—grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric—were firmly ingrained by the liberal arts education she received.  “All that research, writing, and presenting!  God has a beautiful way of providing the skills we need to do what he calls us to do.”  She now uses those same skills to bring students, parents, and other tutors to understand how classical education really works.

Lisa has been involved with the Classical Conversations community since 2004, when she began tutoring Challenge B.  She discovered a true enthusiasm for exploring the intricacies of logic, algebra, and Greek with middle school students!  She still loves preparing these young minds to think creatively and logically about the world God has opened to them.  “I love being there for the ‘aha’ moment,” she says, “and it always comes!”  Whether teaching young minds or those “more mature,” Lisa is an enthusiastic communicator with a flair for making principles clear, and applications understandable.

In 2006, Lisa began a new journey with CC, training other Challenge B tutors across the US.  Providing curriculum support and advice to other tutors has proven quite rewarding, too.  “It’s exciting to collaborate with others who love teaching these subjects; we sharpen one another, and everyone is blessed.”

Lisa lives in Stokesdale, NC with her husband David, a pastor, and their two daughters.  She spends her time reading, fitness walking, and devising ways to produce more bookshelf space in their home!
