Introducing the Licensed Community Director Model

A Stronger, More Unified Approach to Leadership

Classical Conversations is excited to announce a community leadership transition that will strengthen and support our local communities and families. Beginning in the 2027–2028 academic year, all domestic and international communities will move to the Licensed Community Director (LCD) Model—a structure designed to enhance unity, leadership, and growth.

This transition results from feedback, testimony, and  successful pilot programs in over eighty communities nationwide since 2021. The results? Stronger family retention, increased satisfaction among leaders and families, and enhanced growth in participating communities.

At Classical Conversations, our calling remains unchanged: We are committed to providing a classical, Christian, community where families can grow in their homeschooling journey. This transition to Licensed Community Director Model will enhance our ability to serve families even better.

We believe: The support of community enhances our ability to fulfill parental duties, and the accountability of community both sharpens and humbles its members.

What is a Licensed Community Director?

Licensed Community Director (LCD) Model—serves as the vision caster, leader, and administrator of a local Classical Conversations community, ensuring a thriving and well-supported environment for all families. To all Tutors to focus on facilitating academic conversations, LCDs take on the following responsibilities.

  • Securing a facility and managing the continuing relationship
  • Attending to administrative and logistical tasks
  • Supporting family and Tutor onboarding
  • Facilitating communication within the community
  • Casting vision and unifying programs from Foundations to Challenge

This role allows families to feel confident in their homeschooling journey, knowing their community is well led and unified. It also allows Tutors to feel confident that they can wholeheartedly pour themselves into instruction, leading students and families from week to week.

“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” —Ecclesiastes 4:12

Why the change?

The Licensed Community Director position was created on feedback and observations from real communities nationwide. Tutors often juggle priorities; families navigated multiple points of contact; and communities struggled to balance growth with sustainability.

The LCD Model creates a more unified and effective community structure:

  • Streamlined responsibilities enable each leader in community to work within their strengths.
  • Simplified family communication provides one point of contact for interviews and administrative needs.
  • Empowered Directors and Local Representatives allow LCDs to focus on family retention as Local Representatives focus on community growth.

We’ve seen firsthand that this model enhances leadership sustainability while fostering a stronger sense of connection and support.

Our CC community is stronger with the CD model, keeping families connected and eager to return.
