A long-time Classical Conversations student earned a perfect score on the ACT last month.
Thomas Bryan, 17, from Thomasville, Georgia, learned of his perfect score in a letter from Marten Roorda, ACT chief executive officer.
“I was hoping I could get a perfect score,” Bryan said with a smile on his face. “It’s great that I don’t need to take it again.”
Only .2% of all ACT test-takers earn a composite score of 36, according to ACT, but Bryan went even further, earning a perfect 36—top scores on all four sections of the ACT, an exceedingly rare achievement.
His ACT score alone virtually guarantees Bryan of full academic scholarships at hundreds, perhaps thousands of colleges and universities across the country. The only drawback? He still has to complete Challenge IV! His community, Tallahassee (Florida) North, started this week.
Bryan, son of Duke and Cynthia Bryan, has been homeschooled for 10 years with Classical Conversations. He was a part of the Thomasville community for eight years and is beginning his third year with CC in Tallahassee, Florida, about 35 miles away.
“CC has been amazing!” his mom said. “He started in second grade and we immediately fell in love with the program. Thomas loves learning, and the whole concept of enjoying learning and exploring, the freedom to do different math programs, were all really helpful for Thomas. CC has been a big part of his academic success. We began homeschooling to try to ensure a strong foundation of faith in Jesus. I believe that homeschooling and CC encouraged his faith and enabled him to enjoy learning and to progress at his own pace with assignments tailored to his learning style.”
Now that his ACT quest is finished, Thomas will have more time for some of his hobbies: He is a competitive speedcuber (someone who solves Rubik’s cube and other mechanical puzzles), an electronic music composer, and a roller coaster enthusiast. As a speedcuber, he holds the current Georgia record for fastest individual time for solving a Skewb, similar to Rubik’s cube.
