“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.”
– Romans 15:4
On this day during Spirit Week, we are taking time to celebrate history and those who influenced it! It’s important to know what happened to and through the people who came before us. Getting to know them, their strengths, weaknesses, victories, and failures is valuable for helping us decide how we ought to strive to live.
More important than what’s written in any average history book, however, is the history that is recorded in the Bible. Is there any other book of history that can promise hope and give a true compass for how we can live out our love to God? The history in both the old and new testaments was written “for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.”
May the Bible be the one book of history that you never let collect dust. Make God be the part of Historical Character Day that you celebrate on a daily basis—during Spirit Week and beyond!
