This month’s homeschool graduate spotlight is: Robert Bortins.
What was your Classical Conversations experience?
I attended Challenges I, II, and III. I was part of the first group of homeschoolers to meet in my family’s basement. I know the program has changed since I went through it. I am very jealous of my younger brothers who will get to go from Foundations the whole way through.
What college did you attend?
I graduated from high school in 2001 and attended Clemson University, earning my Industrial Engineering Degree.
What did you enjoy about being in Classical Conversations?
I really enjoyed being able to discuss history and economics with my peers on a weekly basis. Classical Conversations made that possible.
What are you doing today?
I recently joined the Classical Conversations team as Director of Marketing and Promotions after spending four years as an engineer for Easy Gardener and UPS. I really enjoyed engineering, but I knew my heart was in helping people homeschool and when the opportunity to change careers came about I decided to make the jump and I am loving it.
What are your favorite hobbies?
When I am not working you will find me playing or coaching rugby or at Crossfit preparing for the next season. I also love to travel!

What would you say to encourage current CC students?
Current CC students and parents should know that the hard work they are putting forth is beneficial to succeeding in the “real world” and to keep striving even when it gets difficult. More importantly, the education skills you learn help you defend your faith.
