Numbering Your Days Homeschool: Classical Guide for March 2026
Looking for ways to approach your homeschool with biblical intentionality this March? As the school year moves into its final stretch, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the precious, finite time we have with our children and how we can steward these formative years with purpose and wisdom.
Robert’s Rhetoric: The Gift of Numbered Days
A letter from Robert Bortins, CEO of Classical Conversations
As we move into March, I find myself reflecting on how quickly time passes. My three children are still young, yet already I’ve watched them grow from toddlers to students who can recite memory work, ask thoughtful questions, and share their love of learning. The years are moving faster than I expected.
The truth is, our days with our children are numbered. Psalm 90:12 invites us into a sobering reality: “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” (ESV) This isn’t meant to discourage us but to awaken us to the preciousness of what we’ve been given. When we truly grasp that we have a finite window to disciple our children and cultivate wisdom in them, it changes how we approach each day.
Steward Your Homeschool Years with Biblical Intentionality
I’ve been thinking deeply about what it means to steward our homeschool years with biblical intentionality. The practice of numbering our days isn’t about creating anxiety—it’s about clarity. It’s about recognizing that the time we have to teach, disciple, and love our children at home is both precious and limited.
When you calculate how many more breakfasts you’ll share, how many more bedtime prayers you’ll pray, how many more years you have before they leave your home, it transforms the mundane into the sacred. The memory work review becomes discipleship. The math lesson becomes formation. The community day becomes fellowship in the body of Christ.
